It's been a while since I've been on here!  I honestly just haven't had too much going on.   I've been staying busy enough, with walks with girlfriends, dinners, and sleeping.  Haha!

One thing I've been working on is this old dresser from my mom's house that I wanted to redo for Baby's dresser/changing table.

It's old, and the drawers were raggedy and needed some fixing up.  Chase put them back together pretty well with his staple gun.

While he was doing this, he saw that someone had marked up the dresser in the back of a drawer with "Clara (can't make out the last name) Aug. 13 17"
How cool!  We also found some old newspaper that was embedded in the bottom of the drawer that was written in German, so we think Clara was German.

If that dresser could talk....

Anyways.. I thought that I wanted to do a whitewash on it.  Something transparent, that'd brighten it up some, but still keep it kind of rustic and let the wood show throw.  Well, I tried it and it just looked unfinished.  It looked like a bad paint job.  So, I mixed up some chalk paint (like I did for the end table, here) and went with simple white.  It took a few coats for it to look the way I wanted it to, but it turned out pretty good.

Of course, I painted around Clara's inscription.

Afterwards, I sprayed it down with a water based Poly.  It didn't go on quite as thick as I had hoped, but it sealed it pretty well.  It looks adorable in the room!  I think Clara would be proud!

My first shower is this weekend, and i'm so excited!  I'm in such a nesting mode, I can't wait to finish getting the room all put together!
