How did everyone's New Years go?

I got all fancy with my love, went out for a nice dinner at a place called Zelo, then rang in the New Year celebrating the nuptials of some friends!

During dinner, Chase talked and I talked about all that we've done this last year, and talked about all of our hopes for the next year!

In the meantime.. I can't wait to put away all of our Christmas decor, clean, declutter, and get in a full-blown health kick!

Well, surprise-surprise, I found no time to blog while on our trip.  We were on the go pretty much constantly!

It was an amazing two weeks.  A few highlights:

We did many things while in Chiang Mai!  We spent our firsts day visiting Buddhist Temples, which were absolutely stunning.

We even visited the oldest one in Thailand.  It was beautiful and peaceful.  We weren't able to go inside though.  The one in the picture above was an other ancient temple we were able to visit.

We also visited the Night Bazarre which is a bit overwhelming if your a shopping addict!  I was practially dizzy looking at all of these things that I all of a sudden must have.  Haha!  But it was awesome, and I got some fun souveniers.  Also at the night bazarre, was the fish pedicure!
Glad I did it, probably will never do it again!  It was weird!

Our day at Patara Elephant Farm.  It was incredible!  I would reccomend this to anyone- and not just any elephant excursion.  This one was for such a great cause and we learned how to actually take care of the elephants with the people from the tribes who do it every day!  We fed them, checked their health in numerous ways, walked them and bathed them.

This was my girl.  Her name was Praow.  She was 4 months preggers!

The experience was truly unique, and I"m so thrilled that we were able to be a part of it!

The next day we had some pool time and met some English friends that were currently living in Australia and traveling their way back to England for the holidays.  Just relaxing and perfect.  It was hot out!

When we flew to the southern area of Thailand, we chose to find a more "remote" island that was less touristy.  So, after a random truck picked us up, and drove us all through Krabi and to a farm to pick some vegetables, we got to the town where we could catch the local boat that would take us to the island.

We rode the long boat with the locals who were stocking up on supplies.

When we got to the island there were random scooter taxi's ready to take us through the trails of the isalnd and down the beach to our remote and rustic "huts".  It was a beautiful family style resort with about 7 bungalows tucked into the the jungle.  Ann would cook for us, and there were kayaks for use, which the boys used every day free diving and catching oysters.  She also called in a massuse so we spend a day taking turns getting Thai massages on the beach!  We stayed for 3 days/2 nights.  It was wonderful, if I ever make it back to Thailand, I'll be sure to go back to see them again.

We eventually made our way to Ko Phi Phi islands, which were MUCH busier.  In fact, if I go back, I'm not sure I'd stay on the Phi Phi islands again, because it's very "spring break" style..  just full of a bunch of college kids from Australia getting wasted and dancing to club music at 1 in the afternoon.. No thanks.
But, we found some nice accommodations on a quieter side of the island.  We did a scuba diving excursion which was a great accomplishment for me!  We did what was called a "Discovery Dive" and went 40 feet under!  It was more challenging than I thought it would be..  getting used to breathing under water.  But once I calmed myself down, it was all worth it!  We swam with sharks, and saw a sea turtle!  Our instructor was an interesting lady from San Diego who we nicknamed the Sea Turtle because she's so chill!
Anyways, the boys chose to keep going and they ended up getting certified!  But that left two days for Laura and I to hang out without them.  We went out for dinner, laid on the beach, got more massages, shopped, drank Mai Thais.. ya know.. the rough life!

Our journey was starting to come to an end, but we had one more stop in Railay on the mainland near Krabi.  Once we got there, we realized we should've spent a few days there instead of only one!  THIS was the picturesque place that we've seen in all of the pictures.  Majestic.  Beautiful cliffs and caves everywhere and monkeys running all around..  the water was perfectly turquoise and the sand was equally gorgeous!
STUNNING!

We spent the day on the beach and then went to West Railay to eat dinner.  The beach just had quiet resorts and nice restaurants.  It was simply lovely!  We lit some Chinese Sky lanterns and had a nice last dinner.  The next day, we had to head back to Bankok for our last night and then to the airport to head home :(

This was probably the most diverse trip I've ever had.  Every day was an adventure, meeting new people and doing new things.  Each location was so different from the last, and Thai hospitality was absolutely wonderful to us!  I do hope that someday I make it back and can spend some more time in Chiang Mai, Ko Jum, and Railay.  Those were my favorite locations!

Last weekend I was so honored to be a part of a wedding of some dear friends of mine.

Let me tell you, the venue was absolutely amazing.  And the bride was stunning.
        The Enchanted Barn

The Beautiful Couple

It was in the middle of nowhere, Wisconsin.  Behind the person who took the picture of the barn was horses just roaming around that you could feed and pet.  And the top floor where the doors were open was where the altar was.  The name of the venue is called the Enchanted Barn, and I think that's the feeling that everyone had that night.

Straight out of pinterest: a rustic/barn theme with mismatched dresses.  Sort of overdone these days?  But beautiful regardless.

This picture is hilarious.. none of us were ready. Haha!
The day of was stressful, to say the least.  There were a few "diva" moments from the bride, for sure.  But once the ceremony was done and everyone was dancing and drinking, it was a nothing but a perfect day!

Who needs a photo booth when you have a sweet prop?
Everyone took pictures by this bad boy all night!
The bridal party and close friends all rented cabins for the rest of the weekend..  Needless to say, it was a good time.  The whole weekend was a great big dance party!  Boozin and eating all weekend.. I ate more pizza and cheese curds than one should in a lifetime.. haha!

The aftermath left me feeling a bit..  puffy.. we'll say!  My body is definitely feeling it.. So I've been getting right back on the track with what I've been doing the last few weeks getting ready for the weekend.
I've been trying to hit the gym at least twice a week:

~A half hour doing intervals on the treadmill

~15 minutes on the elliptical

~TONS of stretches, because it feels so good!

~a series of ab workouts, which I change every day.

*V-ups*Mountain Climbers*Bicycle crunches*Leg raises*Variation of Planks

~Then I do arm weights

However, the weather in Minnesota has been absolutely beautiful.  So instead of hitting the gym, I've often just been going for runs in my neighborhood, and doing some videos at home.

Currently, i've been in love with this fast video that turns my arms into jello.

I try to follow that up with this Victoria's Secret Model Ab Routine.

If I only have a half hour, I try do Jillian Michaels Yoga Meltdown at least once a week.

This week I have also cut out dairy and sugar.

I've just been trying to pump my body full of veggies, fish, lean protein, green tea and Kombucha (which i'm obsessed with, btw)

It's amazing how you can work so hard, and then in one weekend you can feel completely different.  It feels so good to kick it into gear after those rough weekends!

It is the 5th of July and because I'm the newbie here at the Melrose Institute, I get to be here at 6:30 on this beautiful day! I can't complain, I suppose..  But, it's going to be a quiet and dragging type of day.. watching the minutes pass.  Luckily, this gives me the opportunity to catch up here a little bit!

My fourth was very nice!  It basically looked like this:
Can you spot me?

We ate too much, drank too much, got far too much sun, and simply had a great day.  Then we walked into Exclesior for the fireworks.  Unfortunately, Chase had to leave yesterday for the races, so we weren't able to spend it together.  But, we did go see fireworks on Wednesday, and I'll be up to watch him race on Saturday morning, so it's all good!  I love fireworks..  Something about them just makes me feel like a kid again!

Otherwise, my summer has just been crazy busy!  Two week ago, we went out of town for a little family weekend with Chase's dad, stepmom, and kids.  We cruised out to this small town called Alma, Wisconsin which is tucked into the river valley in southern Wisconsin.  It was really beautiful!

We stayed in this adorable little cottage:
Straight out of a fairy tale!

But with 9 people in this tiny house, and kids running all around, Chase and I had to get away.  So we cruised up the bluffs and spent some time  admiring the view.  Then we went to the local winery and had a free tasting!  It was beautiful up there.  If I could redo my wedding, I would for sure do it at a winery!

Gotta love the man-bag.. (it's binoculars)

We spent the evening with the family putting pennies on the train tracks, then we would run up on the bridge when a train was coming, and it felt like it was going to take us right out!  We watched the sunset and went to sleep.

It was a very nice time with the family!  But after 24 hours, I was definitely ready to go home.. haha!

Prior to that, I had a birthday party for Chase and a graduation party for my younger brother in one weekend. That was exhausting!  But it was such a great weekend.  It was storming for the birthday party, so we brought the party inside.. but that was ok!  Ian's grad party was also a success!  I saw many faces I hadn't seen in ages, including my mom's old best friend who actually delivered me!  I heard a lot of "I haven't seen you since you were 'this big!'"
Everyone was celebrating!

I've also been going to watch Chase and my brother race, which has been tons of fun! Friends and family come up to watch..  The boys are in about four races a day, so we go into the infield to watch, then afterwards go back to the pits to hear/recap about how everything went.  After the races, we grab dinner, then there's a short church service, which is nice!  Once that is over, there's a huge bonfire that everyone hangs out at!  I'm leaving again on Saturday, and they'll have fireworks and a whole celebration in the evening.  It should be a good time!

In between all of this, it seems I've been on the lake, either boating or paddle boarding, working overtime or at the restaurant, or cleaning my house..  it's been hard to keep up!

Girls day at the beach!

So, I apologize (to myself, mainly) that I haven't been finding time to share any new ideas, recipes, crafts, etc..  That'll come.  Summertime just seems to get so busy! But, that's why we love it.

Where has time gone?  It's been over a week, and I haven't even had a chance to post a few pictures of my trip.  We've just been so busy since we got back!

Well, it was a wonderful time.  It's funny because I started thinking that 11 days for Mexico was a little too long.. I was wrong!  If only Rocko was down there with us, I don't think we would've come home!
Casa Rosa (The Pink One) <3
Our good friends came!  We took them deep sea fishing.
We didn't catch anything, but we saw lots of turtles and dolphins.

The drinks they make there are so delicious.  I usually don't drink strawberry margaritas or anything like that at home, because it's just syrup!  But nope, not here.  It's simply strawberries, ice, and tequila..  And the Pina Coladas?  They bartender (often times) climbs up a a palm tree to get fresh coconuts and chops up a fresh pineapple.  They are amazing.

Surprise!  My brother was doing his own trip scuba diving around the golf, and facebooked me that he decided to come out to the West Coast for the weekend!  So Chase picked up up from the airport and the next day we all went out to Porto de Sea... a gorgeous, quiet, and local beach.
In fact, i'm pretty sure this is where the inspiration for the ending of the Shawshank Redemption came from.  Look familiar?  This is where they run away to!

We also spent a lot of time with (Chase's) good ole' Grandpa Don!  He's spending 3 months down there this year!  We were sure to have plenty of dinners and happy hours with him.  It was so much fun!

Bros.  I'm so glad that Erik was able to make it.  For the first few nights, he just spend the evenings in the Hammock up on our rooftop!  It's easy to make yourself feel right at home there..  And I told him, you'll be coming down here many more times!

That's the gist of it.  These are with my new camera, which is big so I wasn't able to bring it everywhere.  I might post some more later though that my friend Jenny took.  It was a blast and I already can't wait until next year!

That's about all that's new with me though.  We still have a lot of "nesting" to do at the house..  But, it'll all come together in time!

I was just browsing through my Trash the Dress album on facebook..
I'm not trying to toot my own horn or anything, but they did turn out pretty awesome!  We sort of went fo ra garage/junk yard type of theme..

Check out a few:

This one was sort of funny to do.. but it turned out well!

I think i'll frame this one for our bedroom..  It's a little steamy! :)

My dear friend Ashley Nichole took these, as she's also a local Minneapolis start up photographer!
I'm so glad that we did these.. it's was tons of fun, and I think it's great that we were able to spend more time taking some pictures of me in the dress without all of the stress of the Wedding day.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!  We'll be working on getting our house more put together..  Pictures to come soon!

Cheers!
No, not dancing at bars!  I mean BOOK CLUBBIN'!!!!  That's right, I hosted my very first book club last night! I'm so excited about it!  It turned out to be sort of a bust because a number of people couldn't make it to our first meeting, but it was s till fun!

I just love the idea of a book club, because it's such a wonderful reason to get together with some friends once a month.  The first book we are reading is Gone Girl.  I've heard WONDERFUL things about it!

I'm just so excited to start reading again.. Honestly, I haven't read since I was in Florence!  Before my wedding I read the Hunger Games, and had a hard time finishing the third book.  Finally I did while we were on our Honeymoon, and when I was done with that, I picked up 50 Shades at the Florence airport, but I didn't even finish it!  I was not impressed.

Summer was just so busy for me, and I didn't find times to sit down and relax with a good book..  But, Tis the Season! Life is just starting to slow down a bit, and I couldn't be happier about it!

Do any of you have any good book suggestions?
