I've been completely avoiding the blogging world lately.. and mainly, because I've been waiting to announce:

We're having a baby!!!

Chase and I are both soooo excited.

It's been crazy few months.. After I got home from Park City and had my appointment with my Orthopedic surgeon, he scheduled me a CT scan for better imaging of the injury.  Before they started the CT scan, they asked if there was any chance I could be pregnant..
Jokingly, I said "I don't think so, but you never know, right?!? haha."  They didn't think it was funny.  They sent me to the lab to go and take a test to be sure, even though I insisted that I couldn't be..
After we took the test, they had us wait in a special room for a phone call from the surgeon who ordered the tests.. and when he called, he told us the test was positive.

So that's where we found out.  I was a little bit bummed, because I always thought I'd find out and find a really cute or funny way to tell Chase..  but, life just doesn't always go as planned, am I right?!?

It'll still be a funny story to tell our baby one day!

It's unfortunate that I had to undergo a serious surgery and start this pregnancy off with pain meds, blood clots, and a broken knee, but it's good that it was all so early.  I should be all healed soon, and then I'll be able to start walking, working out again and gain my muscle back so I can carry this little person growing inside of me!

I'm almost out of my first trimester and we're due at the end of September.

I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!

It has been soooo cold up here in Minnesnowwwwta...  But that isn't stopping me from getting into the Holiday Spirit!

We are having Chase's brother, his wife, and baby Brayden stay with us for the weekend.  So I was definitely excited to get some decorating done!

My new holiday centerpiece!  I've had the silver reindeer candle holders since I was young, and I found the vase at TJMaxx.  Faux flowers are from Michaels.  I love silver/gold/and sparkles!

Our beautiful Christmas Tree.  I love the gold ribbon.

One of my Baby's First Christmas ornaments.  I have all of my families now.. both of my brothers, too!

Ice Luminaries!  I'm obsessed.  We're in the process of making a BUNCH!  I used the Arctic Ice Lanterns that was given to me one year as a gift.  You can find local retailers here.
All you do is fill it with water, set it outside for about 10-12 hours, then bring it in, flip it upside down and let it come out.  The bottom should be thin ice that is easily breakable.  Dump out the water, and place a candle inside, and it's a beautiful lantern!

This was on sale at Target!  Adds a nice touch.

What are you doing to decorate for the holidays?

I haven't yet mentioned this on here, but in just over two weeks, my husband and a few of our friends are spending two weeks in Thailand!!!

I'm not going to lie, it sort of is sneaking up on me!  I just realized the other day how soon it is that we're leaving, and now i'm thinking of all the things that I have to do and have in order before I leave.

Let the Adventures Begin!
Above is our plan.

First, we'll fly into Bankok.  We're arriving there at like 11:00 pm, so by the time we get to the hostel we're staying in, and maybe grab a beer or two, we'll probably take it easy and head to bed.  The next day we plan on spending some time checking out Bankok.  We'll most likely visit the floating market and see the Buddhist Temples.  That evening, we're going to grab the overnight train and head up to Chiang Mai.

Chiang Mai seems to be more outdoorsy and adventurous.  We will be there for four days.  One of the days we will be spending at an Elephant Farm where we can learn to take care of our own elephant.  We'll bathe it, feed it, and ride it through some waterfalls!  I'm sooooo excited for this day!  The farm we chose to visit (there's many throughout Thailand) has amazing ratings and only takes elephants from unhealthy living conditions and puts them in a natural environment for breeding to prevent extinction.
There will also be a lot of trekking opportunities, cave exploring, hill tribes, and bamboo rafting, along with a National Park to see.
And in the evening, there's a Night Bazaar in the heart of the city, which is supposed to be very lively market where you can barter on unique merchandise, and there's local musicians playing all through out.

Ahhhhh mazing.

After our four days there, we will fly down to Krabi.  The plans we have for down here are very fluid still.  We have all discussed staying within the Koh Phi Phi Islands, which is supposed to be absolutely stunning. They actually film a lot of movies here, like The Beach with Leonardo DiCaprio! There's so many options for different islands and areas to stay in, we might just play it by ear and find out what seems to be the best place.  Obviously, it's island style down here..  eat, drink, and sing all day!  We'll maybe find some opportunities for fishing, scuba diving, cave exploring, and relaxing!  Oh, and I hear massages are incredibly cheap.. I could get carried away with those!
We'll explore the area down here for about 6 days before we fly back up to Bankok to get ready to head home.

Coincidentally, my step sister is coming into Thailand two days before we depart.  So while we're spending our last day in Bankok, we'll hopefully be able to meet up with them for a bit!

I am beyond excited!  And I'm looking forward to sharing all of our experiences on here!

If there is anyone who comes across this who has any tips, advice, or insight on this, please share!

It is the 5th of July and because I'm the newbie here at the Melrose Institute, I get to be here at 6:30 on this beautiful day! I can't complain, I suppose..  But, it's going to be a quiet and dragging type of day.. watching the minutes pass.  Luckily, this gives me the opportunity to catch up here a little bit!

My fourth was very nice!  It basically looked like this:
Can you spot me?

We ate too much, drank too much, got far too much sun, and simply had a great day.  Then we walked into Exclesior for the fireworks.  Unfortunately, Chase had to leave yesterday for the races, so we weren't able to spend it together.  But, we did go see fireworks on Wednesday, and I'll be up to watch him race on Saturday morning, so it's all good!  I love fireworks..  Something about them just makes me feel like a kid again!

Otherwise, my summer has just been crazy busy!  Two week ago, we went out of town for a little family weekend with Chase's dad, stepmom, and kids.  We cruised out to this small town called Alma, Wisconsin which is tucked into the river valley in southern Wisconsin.  It was really beautiful!

We stayed in this adorable little cottage:
Straight out of a fairy tale!

But with 9 people in this tiny house, and kids running all around, Chase and I had to get away.  So we cruised up the bluffs and spent some time  admiring the view.  Then we went to the local winery and had a free tasting!  It was beautiful up there.  If I could redo my wedding, I would for sure do it at a winery!

Gotta love the man-bag.. (it's binoculars)

We spent the evening with the family putting pennies on the train tracks, then we would run up on the bridge when a train was coming, and it felt like it was going to take us right out!  We watched the sunset and went to sleep.

It was a very nice time with the family!  But after 24 hours, I was definitely ready to go home.. haha!

Prior to that, I had a birthday party for Chase and a graduation party for my younger brother in one weekend. That was exhausting!  But it was such a great weekend.  It was storming for the birthday party, so we brought the party inside.. but that was ok!  Ian's grad party was also a success!  I saw many faces I hadn't seen in ages, including my mom's old best friend who actually delivered me!  I heard a lot of "I haven't seen you since you were 'this big!'"
Everyone was celebrating!

I've also been going to watch Chase and my brother race, which has been tons of fun! Friends and family come up to watch..  The boys are in about four races a day, so we go into the infield to watch, then afterwards go back to the pits to hear/recap about how everything went.  After the races, we grab dinner, then there's a short church service, which is nice!  Once that is over, there's a huge bonfire that everyone hangs out at!  I'm leaving again on Saturday, and they'll have fireworks and a whole celebration in the evening.  It should be a good time!

In between all of this, it seems I've been on the lake, either boating or paddle boarding, working overtime or at the restaurant, or cleaning my house..  it's been hard to keep up!

Girls day at the beach!

So, I apologize (to myself, mainly) that I haven't been finding time to share any new ideas, recipes, crafts, etc..  That'll come.  Summertime just seems to get so busy! But, that's why we love it.

I recently accepted a new position at the Melrose Institute, which is our eating disorder facility.  Yesterday, I had my orientation, and I just have to say how absolutely excited I am!  It's still within the health care system that I'm currently in,and it's still a frontline position, but a "higher level" so I"ll actually be getting paid a little more, and working a little less!  (4-9 hour days.. Tuesdays off!  Woop!)  I'm also just so excited about all of the new things that I'm going to be learning.  The architecture of the building alone is just beautiful, and there's a chapel where they have nondenominational services as well as Thursday morning meditation services for employees.  They also offer yoga classes over lunch shifts, and there's it's all on a beautiful reserved park that has a 2 mile path.

I'm a little bit inspired, just about life right now in general.  There are some people who just think
"Ok, here I am, and that's just fine for me." But I just think it's so important to always be growing, learning and finding new experiences.  No matter how big or little they are, take in all of the experiences and knowledge you can!

I came across this article today and I just love it.

Some of my favorite "21 Habits of Happy People"

-Choose Friends Wisely: Surround yourself with happy, positive people who share your values and goals.  Friends that have the same ethics as you will encourage you to achieve your dreams.  They help you to feel good about yourself.  They are there to lend a helping hand when needed.

-Be Considerate: Accept others for who they are as well as where they are in life.  Respect the for who they are.  Touch them with a kind and generous spirit.  Help when you are able without trying to change the other person.  Try to brighten the day of everyone you come into contact with.

-Learn continuously: Keep up to date with the latest news regarding your career and hobbies.  Try new and daring things that have sparked your interest.

-Enjoy Life: Take the time to see the beauty around you.  There's more to life than work.  Take time to smell the roses, watch a sunset or sunrise with a loved one, take a walk along the seashore (or wherever), hike in the woods, etc.  Learn to live in the present moment and cherish it.  Don't live in the past or future.

Trying to pick my favorites is actually really hard..

Meditate, Love unconditionally, Gratitude, Laugh..  They are all good.  It's good to reflect and check in with yourself sometimes to see which of these you are striving at, and which ones could use improvement.  We can all use improving sometimes.

~Namaste~
I must say, I haven't had the inspiration, time or energy to post any blogs!  Nor have I been doing any thing too cool to share..  But I thought i'd check in and update on some things going on!

Chase and I have our inspection today during my lunch hour!  I can't wait.  I'm obsessed and can't stop thinking about where i'm going to put things, what i'm going to paint the walls, how we're going to remodel the kitchen, my organic veggie garden this summer, my housewarming party guest list..  and BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!!  I'm full of ideas and anxious to get going on them!  We'll be closing NEXT WEEK!  We are hoping to start remodeling our kitchen before we move in.

BUT...

We are insanely busy without the house!

Chase's Grandpa owns a chalet in the Upper Peninsula, MI, so 9 of us are going up this weekend for a fun ski weekend for my birthday!
We'll be home Sunday...
Monday is my birthday!
We should be starting to pack up the house next week as well.
Then we close on Thursday!
That Saturday we have to cruise out to Madison for my sister-in-law's baby shower!
The following week we'll [hopefully] start remodeling the kitchen.
After that, we'll really have to start moving in!
Because then, we're off to Mexico on Feb. 21st!!!
Plus, i'm working two jobs at the moment.. so i'm already busy!

Crazy, crazy month ahead!  Wish me luck!  It's a good thing that I love being busy!!!

I'll update after our fun winter getaway to Michigan!  Let's hope no one gets hurt! :-/

So, after a few weeks of slacking, we drew a date night for this week..  We actually drew live music, which is so much fun!  But I have to be honest, we totally cheated it.  I was planning on going to Uptown to some dive bar and check out a fun jam band or something..  But, we had a meeting with someone after work, and by the time we were done with that, we just weren't up for it..  So instead, we went to a nice little wine and coffee bar near our house, where they had a couple of guys in a blues band!  It was SO much fun.  Good food, good wine, fun atmosphere, and great music!  These guys were jammin' out!

And it's a cozy little place..  it was nice for us to just sit and talk about random things that came to our minds.  Sometimes, it seems like we don't do that as much anymore.  We're talking about money a lot, or future plans..  things that we need to do, obligations, and struggles.  It was nice to just sit one on one in the corner of a cozy bar with some wine and just be with each other.  It's so important to find times to recognize that..  I'm sure most couples do, but it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of life and let those times pass..

Cheers!
We haven't been very good at keeping up with our date nights lately..  Something about the weather..  We've both been a little bit sick, and would rather just stay in and snuggle on the couch!  The important thing is that we've still been making a point to spend those evenings together, even if they are on the couch.  BUT, the point of the jar is to get out of the house!  I figure, if we need to miss a week sometimes, it's ok, but to still make an effort to spending quality time with each other.

TAG:  (I don't follow 11 people :( )
A friend of mine from high school was in a car accident that took his life last night.  His name was Mark, and he was everything wonderful.  Friends with everyone, he was fun, such a sweetie to everyone, very smart, outgoing, a strong believer, and always funny!

In high school, we were buds!  Since then we would still run it into each other here and again.  He was just always such a nice guy and fun to catch up with.  I believe it was last Halloween I hung out with him.  No matter how close you were with someone, when something like this happens to someone you know, someone your age, so suddenly, you can't help but to ponder things a bit.
It makes me reflect on my life, and the people in it, and remmeber to take advantage of each memory, each person, and each experience.  Situations like this make you wonder if He has a plan for everyone..  if that was supposed to happen like that, or if it was purely a mistake.  I am personally open to spiritual beliefs, however, I know that Mark was a strong believer in Christ.
You just never know what this life has in store for each of us, our family, and our friends.  It can be taken away in the blink of an eye.

If you remember a while ago, asked about my biggest fears, car accidents were on there.  They happen SO FAST.  So PLEASE, DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE.  DON'T TEXT AND DRIVE.  DON'T SPEED.  BUCKLE YOUR SEATBELT.  And TEACH your children to drive responsibly as well.  I'm not sure exactly what went wrong in this accident, but it took a life of a wonderful man.
